Once at Rifugio Sapienza (1,920 m), together with your guide you will choose how to continue your half-day Etna excursion, selecting the option that best suits your interests:

Guided walk in Etna Park: a panoramic trek at around 2,000 meters above sea level, along evocative trails crossing extinct craters and lava flows. The walk becomes a fully immersive experience, enriched with stories, curiosities, and scientific explanations about the volcano.

Or Etna high altitude: you will take the cable car up to 2,504 meters and, thanks to 4x4 vehicles, reach the highest permitted areas, experiencing the unique high-altitude volcanic environment up close.

The Mount Etna tour continues with a visit to a lava flow cave, a fascinating and evocative experience carried out in complete safety, equipped with helmets and torches, allowing you to explore the inside of the volcano and understand its underground activity.

At the end of the experience, you will stop at a selected local shop, where you will enjoy a tasting of typical Etna products, including honey, olive oil, and other local specialties, to savor the authentic flavors of this unique land.

After lunch (not included), you will spend the afternoon enjoying free time to explore the charming town of Taormina.

Strolling along the charming Corso Umberto (the main street framed by Porta Messina and Porta Catania), you will admire its most iconic landmarks: Palazzo Corvaja, the Ancient Theatre*, Piazza IX Aprile, the Clock Tower, the Cathedral-Fortress (Duomo), the Badia Vecchia, Palazzo Duca di Santo Stefano, and much more.
You’ll also have time to enjoy some shopping between exclusive boutiques and traditional artisan shops.

By activating this option, you will be able to conclude your tour with a complete and captivating wine experience: you will have the opportunity to visit one of the finest wineries on our volcano, a place where tradition and terroir come together to create wines with a truly distinctive character. During the visit, you will enjoy a guided tasting of four local wines, carefully selected to offer you a rich and varied sensory journey capable of telling the story and identity of our land. Accompanying the tasting, you will find a platter of traditional cold cuts and cheeses, artisanal pâtés, and locally produced extra virgin olive oils, perfectly curated to enhance every sip and make the experience even more authentic and memorable.

The tour then continues to the Alcantara River, walking along small trails and cultivated fields until you reach the Gurne, natural pools carved by water, along with lakes and waterfalls surrounded by lush vegetation. Along the way, you can also admire the ruins of Francavilla Castle, blending nature, history, and tradition.

The day concludes with a visit to the Alcantara Gorges, canyons sculpted over millennia by the river through Etna’s basalt. Here you can marvel at the columnar basalts, extraordinary lava formations of varying thicknesses and orientations, shaped by slow cooling and the erosive power of the river.
