Description
Depart from Catania for a full day discovering the Baroque heart of southeastern Sicily. The first stop is Ragusa Ibla, the UNESCO historic center, where you can admire masterpieces such as the Cathedral of San Giorgio and the Church of the Purgatorio, strolling through elegant squares and charming alleys. Our guide will tell you the story of the post-earthquake reconstruction of 1693 and introduce you to the main features of Ragusan Baroque architecture. Conclude the visit with a walk through the Giardini Iblei and a short break for a free lunch.
Continue to Modica, known as the “city of chocolate” and also a UNESCO site. Walk along Corso Umberto, discover the Cathedral of San Giorgio and the Church of San Pietro, and immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of the Baroque stairways and streets. Here you will have the chance to taste the famous Modican artisanal chocolate and other local specialties such as the Scaccia, a true taste of Sicilian tradition.
